Profile

Professor Glyn Bengough studied biophysics at the University of York before obtaining a PhD in the department of Plant and Soil Science at Aberdeen University. He then moved to a Research Leader position at the Scottish Crop Research Institute (now The James Hutton Institute) in 1988, as a Higher, then Senior and now Principal Scientific Officer, where he still holds a 50% appointment. His main research interests are in using plants to develop sustainable engineering solutions, and in applying engineering and biophysical methods to solve biological problems. Glyn Begough was awarded a personal chair in 2016.
