I really like that the classes are a lot smaller than I was expecting. It means that you can really engage with how passionate the lecturer is about the topic.

Undergraduate Degree:
Physics

After studying a BSc in Biomedical Science, Michael decided to change his career path and pursue his passion for Physics. Michael said:

The fact that the University has such a great reputation for research and development really attracted me to it. I’d seen a bit about the photo-optics lab on the news and I knew that the University of Dundee had a very rich history for Physics! One of the best parts of studying Physics here is the amount of effort that the lecturers put in.

I really like that the classes are a lot smaller than I was expecting. I even had a seminar last week where everyone was able to talk with the lecture and get one-to-one advice. It means that you can really engage with how passionate the lecturer is about the topic.

Living in Dundee is good. It's not as big as many other cities which is what I like about it. The scale of the city means that you are always bumping into somebody you know on campus or in town and it’s very easy to arrange to meet up with people."

It’s  been amazing seeing how much time and money the University of Dundee puts into changes that students want.  The new library development is a great example of this! It genuinely feels like the University of Dundee listens to what students have to say."

Although graduation is awhile away, Michael is already planning his future in Physics:

I’ve enjoyed my degree so much that I am planning on transferring to the MSci Physics. If things go well I’d like to do a PhD project in this area. It’s only my 1st year but I’m really enjoying the course!”
