The courses that we offer, incorporate projects that are comparable to industry briefs, and students learn a great balance of practical and theoretical knowledge. Our Careers Service collaborates with the Division of Engineering to produce a varied and thorough programme of events for students. Throughout the academic year students have the opportunity to attend seminars led by industry experts. Companies that have previously presented on campus include:
- Roger Bullivant
- Transport Scotland
- Subsea 7
- and Atkins to name but a few.
The Careers Service also runs the UK's first Internship Graduate Certificate which allows graduates greater access to industry after the end of their studies with a six-month placement with a high-profile employer in Scotland.
The Division of Engineering fosters a very supportive environment, in which students can engage in open dialogue with academic staff, about their future career prospects. We have very strong ties with industry, and many highly reputable companies recognise our graduates as a potential asset to their team. We continually strive to ensure that when our students graduate, they are fully equipped to embark on a successful career. The University's graduates enjoy the 11th highest starting salaries in the UK (Sunday Times University Guide 2012).
