Our work includes research in accessibility, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), social inclusion, and User Experience (UX). We work with socially disadvantaged, older users, and those with disabilities.
We host user groups who meet in our User Centre. Students and researchers have the opportunity to engage a broad range of groups. This ensures that we build technological systems which meet the needs and aspirations of a wide variety people.
By understanding individual needs we can create digital interventions to improve lives.
We are world leaders in developing intelligent and multimodal technologies within augmentative and alternative communication. We work with the foremost companies in the field to support and enhance interaction for individuals with a variety of communication impairments.
Our work examining user experience combines our expertise in accessibility. This is key to make technology usable for all and create a more inclusive society.
