We teach using a variety of methods including:

The module materials have been designed to facilitate an undertaking of small-scale inquiries, in-depth literature research, research ethics, and the processes of reflection and debate on topics, issues, and considerations of national, professional and international dimensions that are relevant to practice settings and specialists areas of interest.

Assessment

Assessment methods will generally include oral presentations and group work.

Additionally, most modules will have a written assignment based around content covered or researched during the module.

You will learn to develop your academic writing and reading to a postgraduate level. This will develop your understanding of what makes academic writing clear and accurate.

You will also further develop your skills and understanding by engaging in discussion and practical activities.

You will learn essential skills in academic writing. These are a requirement for effective planning and writing your dissertation.

You will also explore and strengthen your understanding of what makes a high-quality dissertation.

An awareness of the theories of language and language learning is critical to learning how they make up the methods of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

You will learn key theories, approaches, and methods of this. You will also learn the emerging critical perspectives on TESOL.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) requires an understanding of the current debate around the English language and its emerging varieties.

You will develop and build your knowledge of how to conduct ethical research.

You will develop your research literacy. This will touch on learning about the fundamentals of research philosophy and practice.

The process of reflection and reflective practice is crucial for any successful educator.

This includes the ability to critically analyse your actions. You also reflect on the personal and professional ethos of being an educator.

Reflecting Upon Practice full module details

Module code: PD50206 Credits: 60 Semester: Semester 2

This module is the culmination of your learning during your Master's course. This is your opportunity to explore an area of interest in depth.
