Dundee City Campus
This highly interdisciplinary postgraduate course offers you the chance to study science fiction literature, film, comics and various other media. It will also give you the scope to incorporate creative practice into your studies.
Our approach is to look at several different media and art forms, and so we welcome applicants from a wide range of disciplines and academic and creative backgrounds. This leads to rich discussions and encourages a mutual learning experience.
You will explore the genre of science fiction and its relationship to different genres, national cultures, and media. You will look at the history of science fiction, as well as studying different sub-genres, and issues such as representation and ideology in science fiction.
You will benefit from the close relationship between the University of Dundee and Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre (DCA), which includes a cinema and runs a programme of screenings, talks and events related to our Masters courses.
We also run activities and events such as seminars and workshops by professional writers and artists, and visiting scholars.
