International law and international relations frame contemporary security issues, such as responses to terrorism or environmental degradation. The concept of security lies at the heart of many international legal regimes and security interests prompt nation states to define their national interest in different ways.

This course will give you an in-depth understanding of international law and international relations relating to modern security issues, such as the use of force or other threats. You will study these issues from legal and international relations perspectives.

As well as the core module on law of international security, other topics that you can study include:
