Biography
Vee Nie is from Malaysia and studied Dentistry in our School of Dentistry, graduating in 2020.
About Vee Nie
Graduating in 2020, I have completed my service in the Malaysian government clinic in Kuala Lumpur and am now working as a general practitioner in Singapore.
I strongly believe in the importance of continuous self development which will help in delivering the most comprehensive treatments to all patients. I was able to volunteer in Cambodia as part of my electives in 2019, treating underprivileged children in rural schools. As I love animals, I have also done an attachment in veterinary dentistry in North Berwick, Scotland, where we treated mainly dogs and cats. My passion lies in dancing. I've been an active member of UoD Dance club as a competing member and I’m still thinking about teaching dance as a part-time job or learning a new genre.
Reason for becoming an Alumni Ambassador
Dundee was a foreign place for me and I didn't want to feel left out so I found it very useful to have an insight into the city and my course from a senior before arriving. When I first moved to the UK, there weren't any international ambassadors and we relied heavily on each other and the Malaysian Student's Association to introduce us to the community.
I genuinely felt that this platform gives applicants better support and a friendly community for them to talk to at times of doubt. Little gestures such as explaining how the interview feels like to giving them a list of what to pack for university would make a difference to their application process and ultimately, student experience. Dundee seems like a small city but it has so much to offer, I'd like future students to get the best experience out of it.
