Richard Bint graduated from the University of Dundee in 1974 with a degree in Modern History,and was awarded the Part 2 Prize for History in 1972.
He is a chartered accountant and was Senior Partner of his firm,PKF(UK)LLP,the 8th largest firm of auditors in the UK with 1500 partners and staff.He was a member of the firm's Board for thirteen years serving ,as well as as Senior Partner,in a variety of senior management roles including Head of Professional Services.Following the merger of PKF with BDO LLP in 2013 his role was to embed the merger,which was the first major strategic merger in the accountancy profession for thirteen years, until his retirement in March 2015. He was for 8 years also a director of PKF International Limited,the entity responsible for an international network of accountants with a network fee income of US$2bn.
Richard has played a prominent role in the accountancy profession in the UK,having served as a member of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW),its governing body,having been a member of the Auditing Practices Board of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (and its predecessor Auditing Practices Committee) for ten years as well as performing roles for other bodies such as the Financial Reporting Council.
Following his retirement Richard is Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee of the ICAEW, has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport to the Board of Harwich Haven Authority, the trust port and conservancy authority for the ports of Felixstowe, Harwich and Ipswich, is a Non Executive Director of Estuary Housing Association Limited and is an independent Governor of Havering Sixth Form College.
