Biography

Following the completion of a degree in Scots Law LLB from the University of Dundee, Rachael completed the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2014 and a Master of Laws (LLM) with Merit in 2016 both from the University of Dundee. In 2023, Rachael was awarded a doctorate from the University of Dundee, which was titled ‘The Scottish Legal Profession and Reasonable adjustments.’ Dr Rachael Wallace’s doctoral research examined how disabled law graduates and solicitors were supported to access and develop a career within the Scottish legal profession. Rachael has a keen interest in disability rights law and sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s Equalities Law Committee.

Research

Dr Wallace’s research interests focus on the following areas: 

  • Disability Equality Law: the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and the implementation of reasonable adjustments.
  • Medical Law: Bioethics and Disability. 

Dr Wallace is interested in conducting a socio- legal research and empirical research on these topics.

Undergraduate – Medical Law and Medical Law (Advanced), Private Law of Scotland I, Private Law of Scotland II, Justice, Law, and Human Rights. 

Other teaching: Critical Approaches to Law and Business Organisations. 

Postgraduate – Healthcare Law and Ethics LLM.
