Biography

After training in a number of repositories across the UK Pamela qualified as an Archivist from Liverpool University in 1995. Since then she has been responsible for a range of collections including higher education, museum, business, private, and local authority archives. Pamela has always really enjoyed the practical elements of archive work, and getting people involved. As a consequence she has more recently diversified, working in the Volunteer sector, and on a large scale community learning Heritage Lottery funded project. Pamela's current post is Project Development Officer, Libraries. Museums & Galleries, for South Ayrshire Council, with the aims of developing these services, and to engage communities through grant funding, partnership working, exhibitions, learning, interpretation and specific events.

Pamela also volunteers for Ayrshire Federation of Historical Societies as their Secretary.

For ten years now Pamela has had the pleasure of mentoring CAIS students from the UK and across the globe from St Kitts to Rwanda. Pamela loves tutoring this particular module because this is where we get down to the ‘nitty gritty’ – learning the art of looking after archives and making them accessible, and discussing all the opportunities and challenges this can bring!
