Biography

Muhammad is from Pakistan and studied BSc Mechanical Engineering in our School of Science and Engineering, graduating in 2021.

About Muhammad

I consider myself ambitious and adventurous due to my targeted approach to my studies and career plans in the UK while loving to socialise and always willing to explore to have a good time. I always try to adapt to different kinds of people as my own interests range from several indoor to outdoor activities. My hobbies include playing video games, playing tabletop or card games, music, watching movies and TV series, watching and playing football, cricket, Formula 1 and UFC, exploring both urban and natural destinations with friends (especially food spots!), having political and historical discussions and socialising in general.

I have always worked towards challenging and improving myself in the best ways I can and have therefore worked in positions of responsibility such as being the Class Representative and School Vice President. At the end of my 2nd year, I decided to apply for the Summer School programme between Dundee and East China University of Science and Technology, which led me to a 2-month trip to China along with a group of students. I made life-long memories on that trip and gained a lot of valuable experience and exposure both academically and non-academically, as the lead representative of that group. By 3rd year, I had made several connections both in industry and university positions. I was a proactive member of the Formula Student team and Club Secretary of the Dundee University Sunday League Football Club. For my honours project, as soon as I saw the option of working in collaboration with CERN, I took it even though it was one of the most challenging projects available, simply due to the prestige of an organisation like CERN. The possible engineering simulations and relevant topics in the modern engineering industry were both very exciting too. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I also worked several part-time jobs which helped me organise myself better and also led to learning more basic transferrable skills for my future career plans.

Reason for becoming an Alumni Ambassador

Being an alumni ambassador will allow me to maintain my wonderful links with the university staff, while simultaneously guiding prospective students with valuable advice, to spend the best years of their life in this lovely city as comfortably and happily as possible. I aim to use my experience to help others work towards an ambitious career path while making life-long memories.
