Melanie Wood is Special Collections Librarian for Newcastle University Library, responsible for more than 60 unique and distinctive book collections dating from the Fifteenth to the Twenty-first Century. Melanie is the strategic leads for teaching and for customer engagement within her team. Melanie is also Honorary Secretary of the CILIP Rare Books and Special Collections Group and has been a member of the Committee since 2013. Previously, Melanie worked for Durham University Library’s Special Collections. Before pursuing a career in librarianship, Melanie completed a PhD in epic literature at Nottingham University. Melanie is a Chartered member of CILIP: the library and information association and has completed an accredited provision to become recognised as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is a mentor for the Newcastle University Mentoring Scheme.
