Biography

Meic has over 30 years’ experience of developing business solutions using records management tools. Currently employed by Fife Council as their corporate records manager, Meic has previously worked in sectors as diverse as Scottish Higher Education, the NHS in Wales, off-shore Government and the Nuclear Industry.  His principle SME areas are developing compliance policies and delivery for new legislation (Isle of Man Public Records Act, Public Records (Scotland) Act, General Data Protection Regulation; the shift to digital working; developing dispersed working (hot-desk, home and mobile); Records Management and business delivery in MS SharePoint; the legal admissibility of electronic records and ‘selling’ records management. Meic holds a PG Dip in Archives Administration from University of Wales Bangor (1999) and has experience of working as an Archivist in both local authority and University Archives.

Meic is involved in the profession and is a Past Chair of the Information and Records Management Society (IRMS). He is also an Honorary Life Member, Fellow and Accredited Member of the IRMS as well as being a current member of the Society’s Accreditation and Fellowships Sub-Committee.  Meic is also an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Information Management (Africa). He is a current Trustee of the Scottish Council on Archives and a former member of the National Records of Scotland Digital Preservation Programme Board.  In addition, Meic was for a time a member of the UK Review Panel for ISO-15489 and he is a current member of the ASLAWG Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry Working Group.

Meic has been tutoring Principles and Practice of Records Management since the beginning of 2016.
