Biography

María Paula is from Colombia and studied BSc Molecular Biology in our School of Life Sciences, graduating in 2021.

About María Paula

I am someone who likes trying new things and the University gave me the space to explore some of my interests (apart from my studies in Molecular Biology). I became part of many activities. I was a member of numerous societies and sports clubs. I helped out as a student ambassador, worked for the Dundee University Student's Association, organised big events like the Life Sciences Careers Fair and the International Night and was also the photography manager for The Magdalen - the student’s magazine. Moreover, with some of my friends, we created the Latin-American society.

During my time in Dundee, I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people, travel around Scotland and Europe, be able to share some of my culture and embrace some of my hobbies: dancing, travelling, and photography!

Reason for becoming an Alumni Ambassador

As an overseas international student, I have experienced the challenges of living far from home, but also the beauty of studying abroad. I would like to be the guidance and experience that I wish I had when I came to Dundee, especially for those with a similar background to mine that are hoping to start their journey at the university.
