Mairi joined the University of Dundee in June 2018 to lead the Development function within the Development and Alumni Relations team which is part of the External Relations directorate. The Development team are responsible for stewardship of key relationships and for raising funds for University priority projects such as scholarships, capital, research and student hardship funds. Mairi manages the team and co-ordinates their fundraising efforts. She is passionate about widening access and participation and ensuring that a university education is accessible to all.

On graduating from the University of Paisley in 1996 with an honours degree in Social Sciences, Mairi went onto develop a career in the social care sector and worked for 22 years in a variety of fundraising and business development roles, mainly to raise funds and develop services for children and adults with disabilities. Before joining the University, Mairi was Head of Business Development at Sense Scotland.

Mairi is a past Honorary President and past President of Scottish Women in Business, a business network based in Glasgow ran by members for members.
