Karen Stulka

Karen is the Compliance Manager (Student) within the Legal team. Karen’s role involves dealing with all matters in relation to student compliance issues with University processes and procedures including complaints, appeals and discipline.

Karen has over five years’ experience in managing student complaints and liaising with the regulator, the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO). She has a wide knowledge of complaints within the Higher Education sector including developing best practice procedures, processes and training for the University, staff and its students.  She is also an active member of the Scottish Higher Education Complaints Forum.

Karen qualified with a Specialist Paralegal Qualification in Employment Law in 2013 and is a member of the Institute of Paralegals.

Karen joined the University in 1992 as a Junior in the Secretary’s Office. Since then she has worked as a Clerical Assistant in Admissions, was Secretary to the Deputy Secretary (assisting with Court & its Committees) and for 14 years (until 2011) was PA to the Academic Secretary (assisting with student issues and Senate & its Committees). In 2011, Academic Affairs became part of Policy, Governance & Legal Affairs (now Academic & Corporate Governance) where Karen was PA and Paralegal to the Director of Legal.
