Nii is from Ghana and studied LLM Energy Law and Policy at our Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP) in our School of Social Sciences, graduating in 2016

About Nii

I believe in the freedom to aspire and so naturally I’m the 'you can be anything you want to be if you put your mind to it' kind of person. I hope that we have a just, fair world where people have equal opportunities and exercise their human liberties for their own growth and fulfilment. I’m currently studying to become a lawyer – which is what I’ve always wanted to be. I also enjoy politics, preparing text for publication, proof-reading and ghost-writing political speeches and campaign messages. I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching movies and documentaries and reading non-fiction. I currently work in the Procurement and Supply Chain side of government-owned downstream fuel and logistics company here in Ghana. This company is involved in the transportation and storage of petroleum products and managing Ghana’s storage reserves. If there is anything I’m sure of, it’s that my best years are ahead of me.

Reason for becoming an Alumni Ambassador

I was a Student Ambassador during my tenure at Dundee. I competed in a Radio Educational reality show in Ghana, in partnership with CEPMLP, where I won the prize to study for a Master's in Dundee. Being an alumni ambassador is by far my own small way of contributing to the University’s progress and appreciation of its investment in me. I was also certain of the chance to leverage my social networking skills. It’s always gratifying to be the one to put people together – mostly people who share a common cause and history. I’ve also had on countless occasions had people call and say “my brother is considering studying in Scotland, can you offer him some guidance, I hear you studied in Dundee”. Altogether, when people in your home country already associate you with a University – far away in Scotland, years after you had left, I suppose you can’t help but represent it. It's an opportunity I don’t take for granted.
