Biography

Fiona has been a Tutor on the Record Management Principles and Practice Module since 2019. She currently works as Senior Knowledge and Information Manager within the UK Civil Service and resides on a number of strategic working groups across defence. She is passionate about archival and records management education and acts as an Information Management Function Development Officer to support up-and-coming professionals through their careers.

Having worked in libraries, archives and records management, Fiona has a broad understanding of the information profession. In recent years, she has specialised more in records management, compliance and information security and has worked for a number of organisations, including the Parliamentary Archives, the Takeover Panel, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, the National Jazz Archive, the Museum of London, and the English Folk Dance and Song Society.

Fiona has strong research interests and has a Masters in Advanced Musical Studies, specialising in ethnomusicology. She has a passion for traditional music from the UK and further afield and is an active musician. As a researcher, Fiona contributed to the reception history of the Berlioz opera, Benvenuto Cellini in ‘English Reviews of Benvenuto Cellini’ in Perspektiven der Opernforschung: The Musical Voyager: Berlioz in Europe, eds. David Charlton and Katherine Ellis (Peter Lang: Frankfurt).
