Eve is from United Arab Emirates and studied BSc Biomedical Sciences in our School of Life Sciences, graduating in 2021
About Eve
I enjoy talking to people about the University of Dundee. I have been a student ambassador since my first year, and every time I did a campus tour or a live event session and people asked questions and were interactive, I enjoyed answering and helping them figure out what they want to know or what they want to become. In addition to that, I have been a module representative for two of my modules during my fourth year and have worked part-time at DUSA as Customer Safety for a year in a half. I love listening to music, reading (when I have the time), and cooking!
Reason for becoming an Alumni Ambassador
I was interested in becoming an Alumni Ambassador because when growing up and thinking of university, I rarely saw people as ambassadors/representatives that have come from a similar background or similar path as I did. I am a Third Culture Kid, meaning I grew up in a country and culture that was not my nationality and of my parent’s nationality and culture. The poor representation of those who consider themselves as Third Culture individuals would make it harder for me and others to connect and find the strength to push ourselves to leave our comfort zones of our homes with our immediate family members. I was afraid to leave Dubai because I thought I would not meet people that came from a similar experience and path, making my student experience harder – but I was so wrong. I wish to be that representation for the people who feel they cannot truly fit into a specific environment and culture, in addition to showcasing what the University of Dundee truly has to offer its student community. Being an Ambassador means that I not only represent the University, but I also discuss my personal student experience – the good and the bad. There is always room for improvement, which is why I love being an ambassador and a representative because I get to voice my opinion, experience, and feedback to the University directly.
