Biography

Dawood Gashgari is a postgraduate researcher in the School of Health Sciences. He is an international student from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dawood enrolled in the University of Dundee to complete a PhD. in integrated Nursing and Health Sciences.

In 2012, Dawood earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences with honours from Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia. He was given the highest academic distinction certificate by Umm Al-Qura University in 2013. Following his graduation, Dawood has completed his medical internship in King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His government awarded him a full academic scholarship to complete his Master’s degree and PhD in healthcare sciences to gain the sufficient academic knowledge and experience necessary to become one of his country’s healthcare decision-makers, researchers, and professors.

Dawood continued his higher education in the United States of America. He completed several courses at the University of Southern California. In 2017, he was awarded a Masters in Health Administration by University of Central Florida.

Research

Dawood interested in topics related to healthcare equity and rights; how to improve health care services among minority groups and develop strong health research and mechanisms of application that assures a better and equal level of healthcare access and quality of care for ethnic minorities.

His perspective research topic is "Ethnic Minority’s Perspective of Barriers Experienced in Maternal Healthcare".
