Dr. Andrea Cooper is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Dundee. Andrea acts as Programme Director of BA (Professional Development) in Leadership and Management, offered at Belfast Metropolitan College, Belfast, Northern Ireland, a position held since 2004.
With Over 25 Years’ experience in Education Sector, Andrea is hugely passionate about Business and Academia. She has collaborated with Government, Statutory and Non-statutory, Private and Voluntary Sectors assisting in development of successful strategies for change, executive coaching and leadership and management within Northern Ireland and UK. She has developed and applied innovative solutions to achieve strategic organisational improvements. Andrea coaches and mentors senior executives and CEOs to create an environment that encourages creative thinking and innovation across the workforce, specialising in Business Planning and Strategic Leadership.
Andrea has extensive experience in managing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of leadership and business management and continuing professional development for all professional disciplines. In addition, she has significant quality assurance and improvement experience through consultancy working with national and regulatory bodies. Is an active researcher with experience of publication and reviewing for peer reviewed journals.
Andrea holds Fellowship with Higher Education Academy (HEA), Chartered Member Status Chartered Institute Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is member of Institute of Directors (IOD). Acts as Conference Key note speaker.
Andrea is currently an External Examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

Andrea’s principal research interests lie in the field of transformational change; agile methodology and strategic leadership; initial teacher education; professional development and philosophy of professional development and work based learning. She is writing on issues related to organisational learning and transformational leadership and vertical leadership development and on the transactional leadership, particularly linked to organisational culture.
Andrea gained a PhD from the University of Ulster where the thesis explored Strategic Human Resource Management, Marketing and Employer Branding Strategy within domestic and international global organisations.
