OPD run a workshop in support of the new Academic Probationary Procedures.
The Role and Responsibilities
The OPD workshop (The Role and Responsibilities of Academic Line Managers and Mentors in Academic Probation) will provide an oversight of the role of Academic Line Managers and Mentors in the recently revised Academic Probation system at the University. It will be also provide tips and advice on how to be an effective Academic Line Manager or Mentor.
The first part of the workshop will introduce the Probation system and cover the role of the Academic Line Manager within it.
The second part of the workshop focuses on the role of the mentor.
There will be ample opportunities for questions, discussion, sharing of experiences, and feedback on the probation procedures and roles.
Workshop Aims and Objectives
By the end of the workshop participants will
- Have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Academic Line Managers and Mentors in the academic probation system
- Have learned how to maximise the benefit they can bring to probationers through the exercising of their roles
- Have had the opportunity to meet, interact with and learn from others performing these roles
