University students `PopDundee’ with Overgate shop

Dundee shoppers will have the chance to buy work from some of the city’s brightest young creatives throughout this week as students from the University of Dundee set up their pop-up `POPDUNDEE’ shop in the Overgate Centre. POPDUNDEE has been set up by 2nd-  and 3rd-year students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, part of the University, with the support of the Overgate Centre. Whether you have green fingers or not, every breath you take, every meal you eat owes a debt to plants. From one little seed, planted into soil, many green lives can arise - from small herbs up to big trees, or from ornamental flowers to substantial crops which all animals and mankind need to survive on this planet. ‘The University at War’ – new exhibition opens on 9th May

A new exhibition exploring the effect the First World War had on the institution that became the University of Dundee opens this weekend. ‘The University at War’ tells the stories of staff and students from what was then University College Dundee who fought on the front line, or undertook important wartime research. Two months of global history events

Two months of debates, workshops, network events and conferences on global history will begin at the University of Dundee this weekend with an exploration of Empire. Throughout May and June the University’s Scottish Centre for Global History will welcome some of the discipline’s most prominent practitioners of global history. They will explain their vision of the field, host conferences on cutting edge research and hold training workshops for new doctoral researchers. Dundee lecturer represents Scotland at 56th Venice Biennale

Graham Fagen, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee and one of the UK’s foremost contemporary artists, is leading Scotland’s representation at the 2015 Venice Biennale.
