Dundee University's Chamber Choir is an auditiong group of singers, made up of mainly student members, within the Dundee University Music Society. With three to four concerts throughout the academic year, the choir is constantly exploring new styles of music and undertaking new composers. Having performed pieces by Byrd, Rachmaninovv, Britten, Stanford and Durufle, to name a few, in the past few semesters, there is always something for all members to enjoy and be challenged by.
We meet once a week on Monday's 7pm-9pm in the chaplaincy on campus for rehearsal, with a small break in the middle to socialise and get to know your fellow choir members over a cup of coffee. A small one off membership fee of £20 for students and £25 for non-students is to be paid at the beginning of first semester, this will cover all performances and music for all Dundee University Music Society activities you may be involved in.
How To Join
There are a limited number of spaces available in the choir this year so we will be holding an open rehearsal on Monday September 10th. Thereafter, auditions will likely be held in week three of semester one to which we ask you bring a prepared piece of music to perform, before going through some sight reading tests.
Chamber Choir is a great way to socialise and take a break from studying, and I highly encourage anyone with a passion for music to check out any of the groups Dundee University Music Society has to offer.
