The Bach Consort was established in its current form in September 1999. The group consists of approx 12 singers and rehearses once a week throughout the first 2 university terms. As the name suggests, repertoire is generally taken from music in the Baroque era, and more often than not from Germany, but other countries have been represented over the years.

2 major performances are put on each year with an ensemble led by Beth Wyllie: a Christmas concert and a Passion on Good Friday. In first term, the Bach Consort perform at an evensong to mark the start of Advent and in 2nd term perform at a lunchtime concert as part of the University series.

Over the recent years, the Consort have been performing from editions prepared by Graeme Stevenson. In April 2015, they completed a cycle through the 3 passions by CH Graun - Der Tod Jesu, Kommt und schaut and the Passion-Pasticcio which included extra movements by Telemann, Bach, Kuhnau and Altnikol.
