OPSOC - Sept 17

Since OpSoc first began in 1963, there have been many changes within the society which have led to it becoming the OpSoc that we all know and love today. Last year we hosted a successful series of concerts and shows, including our main show ‘The Witches of Eastwick’. With many new members, concerts and events, we are greatly looking forward to further shaping OpSoc’s successes over this coming academic session. We kicked off the OpSoc calendar with our second annual fresher’s concert, ‘You’re the One that I Want!’. With several new students attending and after a br...

Music

After all the excitement of Carmina Burana, Godzilla Eats Las Vegas and the Witches of Eastwick, amongst many other performances in March, things do quieten down a bit at this time of year but even so, there is still a fair amount of music-making happening. OpSoc are working towards their end of term concert on May 20th where you’ll be able to hear solos, duets and group numbers from Waitress to West Side Story. Tradsoc

7/4/17 Tradsoc The Dundee University Traditional Music Society (aka Tradsoc) is not your typical average university society. It is not like an orchestra which has a conductor scrutinising each instrument and crotchet beat, nor like a sports society which requires great stamina and potentially bulky muscles to initiate fear into the opposition. It is a unique society which promises a lot fun and live music – for free. Being part of Tradsoc means having an opportunity to unwind after a stressful day of work or uni with the promise of vivacious tunes, a passionate audience and (of course) free pints. Me...

Dundee University Concert Band (DUCB)

10 years ago, this concert band did not exist at the University of Dundee. We have grown spectacularly from our humble beginnings of a band consisting of 10 players 8 years ago to a large band of approximately 50 members now. We are constantly evolving and changing as a society with our passion for music connecting us all and forming the vibrant and fun concert band you see today. Our conductor Susan Sneddon is a very talented asset to the band and has been with us from the beginning who without, the band would not be as great as it is today! We are an independent group of predominately university brass, w...

OPSOC

Since OpSoc first began in 1963, there have been a huge number of changes within the society which have led to it becoming OpSoc as we know and love it today. In the past year, we have continued to grow as a society, and our many new members, events and memories have shaped us into the OpSoc of 2017.This year has flown by, and has been one of our busiest ever! September saw us create a new 'Freshers' concert in DUSA, put on a weekend show of 'Back to the 80s' and then take part in a rigorous audition and call back process, followed by the start of rehearsals for our entire cast. However, on top of rehearsa...
