Our world is becoming increasingly diverse with multiple cultural backgrounds and nationalities.

The world of business is no different and organisations should aspire to understand and represent diversity.

This module will help you understand differences and how to develop cross-cultural competencies.

In this module, we situate these differences in a historical and global context as well as in relation to different workplace and professional cultures and your own values.

What you will learn

In this module you will:

  • understand the context within which cultural and other differences manifest themselves
  • be introduced to intersectionality and inclusivity
  • identify different cross-cultural orientations and behaviours
  • develop cross-cultural competencies relevant to intercultural encounters and teamwork, with the opportunity to put them into practice

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • understand how cultural and other differences intersect
  • analyse and critically assess cross-cultural encounters in relation to the challenges and opportunities they create for international organisations and places of work
  • equip yourself with enhanced intercultural competencies for working in multicultural groups
  • obtain insight into your own cross-cultural orientations and behaviours that influence your encounters with others and performance in teamwork
