Within this course, students will gain knowledge and understanding of key recent developments in corporate governance, particularly around corporate governance codes. Consideration will also be given to a range of high-profile corporate scandals and shortcomings, and the role of corporate governance within such failures. Students will learn about the relationship between corporate governance, social responsibility, and ethical behaviour. Opportunities will also be provided for students to consider corporate governance in a range of international contexts.

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • develop a range of practical and intellectual skills
  • be able to synthesise key information from journal articles and reports and summarise these appropriately lop
  • develop the ability to recognise the needs and requirements of a variety of stakeholders in different types of organisations

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • present information from independent research using a variety of methods, both orally through presentations and written via accessible reports

Assignments / assessment

Individual essay (30%)

  • 1,000 words

Individual end-of-course report (70%)

  • 3,500 words

This module does not have a final exam.
