Mike is currently working within the Chalmers Group, analysing data from the TARDIS dataset on COPD. He is also involved in the MUSIC and INCOGNITO trials.
Previously, he worked within the MRC/ABPI MASTERMIND project which has been investigating the stratification of treatment for Type 2 diabetes.
Before coming to Dundee, he worked in the Sea Mammal Research Unit at the University of St Andrews mainly concentrating on estimating the abundance of UK seal populations.
Mike’s research interests are in the extraction of practically useful and reliable information from numerical data.
His work at SMRU influenced the sections of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 concerning the conservation and management of UK seal populations and led to his participation in three Expert Workshops evaluating models and advising the New Zealand government on threats to the New Zealand sea lion population.
