With a background in various administrative roles in the NHS, Ms Napier joined the NHS Tayside Medical Education team in 2013 to lead on the quality assurance, and improvement, of the medical students learning experiences on clinical attachments within the health board. This role lead to an interest in supporting clinicians to develop their skills in teaching and facilitating learning. Whilst undertaking this role, Ms Napier completed postgraduate qualifications in both Quality Improvement & Medical Education.
Ms Napier then joined the University of Dundee, School of Medicine in 2017 to lead on the faculty development programme for NHS educators.
Ms Napier delivers training to NHS and School of Medicine staff involved in teaching medical studentss and doctors in training. Her training includes topics such as ‘planning for learning’, ‘teaching small groups’, ‘teaching in the clinical context’ and ‘supporting learners’.
