David graduated from the University of Dundee in 1988, and subsequently trained in General Practice in Angus, obtaining the DRCCOG in 1990 and the MRCGP in 1992. He has worked in General Practice in the east of Dundee since 1993, having played a role in locality purchasing, the establishment of NEWDOC GP out of hours coop, and GP premises development. Areas of clinical interest include cardiovascular, respiratory and prescribing.
David has been involved in undergraduate teaching as a Phase 2 tutor in the early days of the curriculum, then subsequently in the community with 4th and 5th year undergraduate GP attachments. He joined uTCGP in April 2012 to work on and deliver the new ISS stand of the curriculum, in 2nd and 3rd year in the first instance. This exciting development will further integrate basic sciences into the teaching of clinical specialties.
