Cameron graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc(Hons) degree in Pharmacology in 1988. He then studied Medicine (MBChB Glas.) before embarking on a career in Anaesthesia. In 1998 he was appointed as a research fellow (sponsored by the British Journal of Anaesthesia and Royal College of Anaesthetists) to investigate the molecular mechanisms of anaesthesia with Professor Jerry Lambert, University of Dundee. He was awarded the Jubilee Medal from the Anaesthetic Research Society & Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2001. After completing his PhD, he took up post as clinical lecturer within the University Department of Anaesthesia. He was appointed Consultant Anaesthetist / Honorary Senior Lecturer in 2005. His clinical interests include anaesthesia for hepato-biliary surgery (including intraperitoneal chemotherapy), dental sedation and day-case surgery. Cameron leads the Tayside Anaesthesia Allergy Clinic taking referrals from across the East of Scotland. He was elected onto Council of the Anaesthetic Research Society where he served as Honorary Treasurer for 5 years. He is lead for the Institute of Anaesthesia’s academic track and has been an Associate Editor for Continuing Education in Anaesthesia Critical Care and Pain since 2006. He is a College Tutor and is an examiner for the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
