The Behavioural Neuroscience Core Facility offers a range of rodent behavioural testing services, and can provide facilities and training for researchers who wish to conduct experiments themselves within the core facility.

The Behavioural Neuroscience Core Facility at Ninewells Hospital, this facility is available to external commercial and non-commercial customers as well as all University of Dundee staff and students. We offer a range of rodent behavioural testing services, and can provide facilities and training for researchers who wish to conduct experiments themselves within the Core Facility.

We have the equipment and expertise to carry out a range of tests of cognition (such as water maze, novel-object recognition), motor function (such as rotarod, locomotor activity, gait analysis), anxiety (such as elevated plus maze, open-field) attention and impulsivity (such as 5-choice serial-reaction time), as well as tests of addiction and nociception-related behaviours. We would also be happy to consider offering additional tasks, or to develop entirely novel protocols, based on the demands of our clients. We are equipped for both the behavioural phenotyping of transgenic animals, and the assessment of novel therapeutics, and we offer consultancy services on task selection and experimental design to ensure that each project is tailored to the specific needs of the client.
