Tori Hage

The demand to move online has changed comics creators' approach to the increased variety of their field of work. Being a creator themselves, Hage attempted to evaluate the evolving form of webcomics and the platforms used for publishing them in the era of ‘appification’ in their dissertation research. In order to gain inside perspective of each platforms being analysed, they created a webcomic series as a variable for the case study. Taking languages as the main theme, the creator hopes to reach multilingual generations that use English as a bridge to communicate and infuse it with their own cultural backgrounds. As the COVID-19 outbreak further boosted the increase of global internet use and mobile device ownership, they believe the appification of things will continue to develop the webcomics industry.
