Kara Thorndike

Freedom? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it mean.

This installation is about localising broader social phenomena in personal experience. By stepping into a metaphorical mental and emotional workshop, we experience and interact with attempts to just "be" despite, at times in spite of, a system that marginalises for trying. Artifacts in the installation tune us into the fragmentation that comes of any system that functions with dualistic, either/or assumptions. Looking at the effects of fragmentation we also glimpse how we could reconnect to a wholeness that exists in a state of “and” and “so?”.
