Louis Macdonald

Fine Art MFA

Macdonald uses typography and imagery to subvert and poke fun at current events within society, popular culture and politics.

About

Louis Macdonald B.1999, is a multi-disciplinary artist from Perth but studies at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee.

His work focuses mainly on current events within society, popular culture, and politics. Due to this and his enthusiasm to create, he can produce vast amounts of work in a short space of time. Largely through the medium of printmaking, he enjoys creating a mixture of abstract and direct images.

Usually involving typography, Louis likes to convey both commanding and subversive texts. This use of text can both be weaved into the imagery or contrast to display open ended prints.

Influences such as David Shrigley, Richie Culver and Darren Cullen have played a part in Louis' current body of work titled: “Mundane Pink Currency”.
