Journey Inside A Daffodil: Integrating 3D Technology into Nature Interpretation.

About

Interactive 3D technology is increasingly playing an important role in making all kinds of learning more equitable and accessible, including outdoor learning. The University of Dundee Botanic Garden was chosen as a site for developing a creative educational resource that uses interactive 3D technology to complement traditional learning methods. A traditional interpretive sign about the Scottish daffodil was designed and supplemented with a digital component wherein visitors may scan a QR code to access interactive 3D visualisations of the biological scales of a daffodil. “Journey Inside a Daffodil” is being installed as permanent signage in the UoD Botanic Garden. This project exposes learners to a range of scientific concepts through public outreach that is accessible and exciting for all levels.
