Temporal Drama

About

Georgia Dunn is an interdisciplinary artist whose work concerns the phenomenology of the human body. Through studying sensoria and simulacrums in tangent with haptic imagery Georgia’s current work uses an intermedial lens to translate her experiences of functional dissociative seizures. The exhibition’s title, ‘Temporal Drama’ references Oliver Sacks’ seminal work, ‘The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat’, in regard to the state of the body and mind during a dissociative episode. Georgia’s focus on sculpture and print work examines the temporary lapses of time and reality in unknown bodily phenomena. In her current trajectory, Georgia uses humour to address feelings of awkwardness and discomfort in the embarrassing social situations that she finds herself in after she has experienced a seizure. ‘Temporal Drama’ invites audiences to engage with a saturated hyper-reality that oscillates between dissocia, scientific imagining and apologetic impulses. Georgia investigates her ontology through a series of objects and images that question form and rhizomatic communication. With a focus on maximalism, ‘Temporal Drama’ creates an anarchic sensory overload that is intervened by play and totality.
