About

Forever inspired by the natural world, and deepened by my meditation and walking practice, my work is a full embodiment of the landscape, seascape and our placement within this part of the world. My “walking practice” as it has come to be known, is as much a part of the outcome of the work as time spent in the studio. Everything begins with the experience of space, and of the feeling of attunement, and the sense of peacefulness experienced when walking out in the forests, mountains or beaches. As a holistic therapist, creating meditations based on these walks for my clients who experience chronic pain and struggles with their mental health and wellbeing has been a practice I know to have had a hugely positive impact on them in many ways. As well as the physical and mental benefits, this has also enabled them to maintain a higher quality of life through prolonged practice. My Masters has involved taking this knowledge and translating it into multi-disciplinary visual works.

Inspired by the Scottish NHS’ desire to promote “Green and Blue Healthcare” (an alternative to traditional medication that encourages patients to seek time outside in nature, has been widely proven benefits for positive mental and physical health and wellbeing), and working with some incredible healthcare professionals through NHS Tayside, with mindful nods to those who have walked before, and those who will walk in the future, the perennialism of Scotland sings through every aspect of my work.
