Location and Access

This Library is located in Perth Royal Infirmary, Taymount Terrace, Perth PH1 1NX. The Library entrance is on the ground floor in the old part of the Hospital, opposite the canteen. Please note that there is no access outwith the Library's advertised opening hours. A bus service connects Perth Royal Infirmary to Ninewells Hospital (Stagecoach East Scotland Coastrider X7) and the bus also goes along the Hawkhill in Dundee near the Main Campus. 

Library Resources

The Gillingham Library houses a small book and journal collection, there is also a wide range of electronic books,  journals,  videos and numerous online databases (for licensing reasons some of these resources are only available to staff and students of this university), such as the innovative 'PubMed' and 'Medline' databases, plus the online video database ''. For more information on these resources please refer to these Subject Guides: Medicine, Medical EducationAnatomy & Human Identification and Nursing and Health Sciences.  The Library has also acquired Reading Lists an online list of resources for students to use on their specific modules.

The Library also run a van delivery service from Dundee which runs on a Monday and Thursday, enabling books to be returned to and holds to be collected from other sites.  Books are issued and holds collected from the Issue Desk.  Borrowing requires a matriculation card for students, or a library card for NHS and other borrowers.  NHS staff should bring along a payslip to join the Library.  If you have just started bring along a letter of appointment to join.

The Library has 2 kiosk machines with access to all the usual University online resources as well as access to word, excel, usb points etc. In addition there are 10 NHS machines.  These require TNHS and LDAP passwords.  Students should ensure they have been given an LDAP password prior to their visit/placement to avoid a delay in gaining access.  Once you have your LDAP password, you can get your TNHS account enabled by phoning the NHS IT helpdesk 01382 424444. 

Printing is free in the Library and a black and white photocopier and scanner are available.  UoD wi-fi can be temperamental, users find eduroam is a more successful means of access.  A quiet study area is available as well as soft seating throughout.
