Help with REF and Open Access: Manuscript deposit in Pure
The Higher Education Funding Council "Policy for Open Access in the post -2014 Research Excellence Framework" is to be implemented on 1 April 2016. Researchers wishing to ensure compliance with the policy can find more information on our REF webpages.
Funding is available for University of Dundee researchers to support Open Access publication of research outputs.
Researchers are invited to submit details of suitable research outputs for consideration for funding to provide their articles in an open access form. Open Access publication is a requirement of Research Councils UK (RCUK) and the Charity Open Access Fund (COAF)* medical charities.
Article Processing Charges (APCs) and other publication charges relating to peer-reviewed research papers can no longer be included within research grant applications to these organisations.
Note - Where an existing grant has been awarded with provision for APCs as part of the direct costs, the use of this funding is not suitable.
Consideration will be given to both funded research from any funder, and to unfunded research, with payments being met from either the University's RCUK Block Grant, the COAF* Block Grant, or the University's Institutional Open Access Fund. Applications should be made for research which has been accepted for publication. To complete the form, researchers are also required to deposit a copy of their final Accepted Manuscript, in anticipation of the Open Access requirements of the post-2014 Research Excellence Framework exercise.
Please send any queries concerning your application, or on Open Access funding in general to: email@example.com.
*COAF comprises the following medical charities: Arthritis Research UK, Breast Cancer Campaign, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and the Wellcome Trust.
