Corporate Governance in Nigeria’s Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs): Problems and Prospects
The concept of corporate governance is most times regarded as an alien conception in the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) sector in the Nigerian business environment. It is presumed to be the revived concept in the business world but exclusively for the large scale business environment.
Nevertheless, scholars have noted that SMEs contribute immensely to economic development. Presently, they remain the main source of employment generation and output growth for economies.
Given the significant role which SMEs have contributed to the economies of developed nations motivates this research in the bid to aid Nigeria’s SMEs reach its optimum and to also play its overall role in the country’s economic growth and development.
This research is intended to focus on corporate governance principles to tackle Nigeria’s SMEs impediments.
