The aim of information security is to protect information by ensuring:

Confidentiality is the prevention of disclosure of information to unauthorised individuals, entities or systems. It can also be associated with privacy.

Integrity is concerned with maintaining the accuracy, completeness and consistency of information over its entire life cycle. This means that information should only be changed by authorised people or processes.

Availability of information refers to ensuring that authorised parties are able to access the information when needed.

Cyber Resilience Strategy for Scotland

The Scottish Government recently identified a need to define a strategy to enable cyber resilience across Scotland.

It began a consultation in 2015 to form a framework to build cyber resilience amongst our communities, our businesses and our public services.

The strategy is due to be published in November 2015 and we await the content to identify how the University can support the strategy.
