Whether you are a new or returning student we would like to wish you a warm and happy welcome to the University of Dundee.

This is such an exciting time to be a new student attending University. We want you to feel confident and comfortable when using our facilities and want to support you in your sport and exercise journey.
While we continue to navigate the Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, there will be some changes to the way we operate at the gym, the pool, and Riverside playing fields. These changes have been put in place to ensure your safety, that of our staff, and to allow our community to exercise and take part in sport feeling comfortable and confident.
Firstly, let's get you registered! Here is a 'how to' on becoming a member with us:

Choose your membership

A range of flexible and cost-effective membership options are available to all students. With three distinctive packages titled Sport, Exercise, and Sport & Exercise, you can decide which is right for you and whether you would like to pay monthly, yearly, or as a double semester.

Take a look at our student membership options and what is included with each package and join online.

Download our app

Once you have chosen and paid for your membership the next step is to download our app. This will give you access to booking the Gym, Strength Performance Centre, Swimming Pool, racquet sports, exercise classes, and changing facilities.

To link your account to the app, tap the 'Request your login ID & Pin' within the app and enter the email you used to register your membership. You will then receive email instructions featuring your member ID, create a password, and hit 'save'. You only have to do this once, even though the next page may look the same or like it has refreshed or not worked - it has.

The app can be downloaded for free on both iOS and Android devices.

Your student card is your ID

When you come in to use the facilities for the very first time we will ask to link your student card to your membership. This then becomes your entry into any session booked on the app, a club training, and how we record your attendance.

It is still early days and we know not everyone has their student cards just yet. Not to worry, we will simply look you up on the system to register your attendance until you have your very own student card.

Phone, keys, student card, face-covering

In accordance with Government guidance please wear a face-covering when entering and moving through the facilities, unless you are medically exempt. Once you reach your destination, such as the personal training suite or exercise studio, you can remove your covering and get started with your session. Our staff team will be leading by example by wearing their University masks throughout the day and may ask you to dawn a covering as a gentle reminder.

Lockers, changing rooms, and showers

You will notice we have a few lockers dotted about the facilities and in the changing rooms, which are available for you to store any bags, jackets, and study books you might have with you. The exercise spaces can get crowded at times, so to ensure your valuables are kept safe we ask all members to take full advantage of these.

We ask all members to arrive at the facilities dressed ready to train while we operate a reduced capacity. If you would like to use the changing rooms before or after your session, including the showers, you can book a slot on our app under 'showers'.

You'll need an induction

To gain access to the Strength Performance Centre we ask all members to take our online induction to familiarise yourself with the space. Once this has been completed we will then add the facility as a bolt-on to your account. We also have an induction to use our Wattbikes for general use and anyone looking to take part in our Bike classes.
