Dr Anja Johansen, Senior Lecturer in History and Information Studies, has been awarded a large Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) grant for a project on police accountability.
The project is a multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues from universities in Europe, North America and Asia. The team will work with government agencies, police organisations and NGOs to establish international standards for police accountability. Anja will be the Principal Investigator for the UK branch of the project, which will generate significant policy impact around the world.
Anja is the go-to person for the history of policing and police accountability and is therefore uniquely placed to be one of the project’s leaders. Congratulations to Anja on this success!
