Alumni 50th weekend celebrations - English & History

As part of the celebrations on Saturday 20th May for the Alumni 50th weekend celebrations, History and English will be holding lectures followed by discussions.

History - Professor Graeme Morton, Director of the Centre for Scottish Culture, will discuss ‘Scotland’s Past, Present and Future’ through an illustrated lecture from 10am on ‘William Wallace and Scottish Nationalism’ followed by a roundtable discussion at 11am considering ‘Representing the Nation in Culture’.  The event will be held in the Baxter Suite of the Tower Building (Level 1).

English - Professor Christopher Murray, Dr Keith Williams, and Dr Daniel Cook will host an illustrated lecture followed by a group discussion, showcase of recent work, and a workshop covering ‘Critical and Creative Cultures: The Relationship between Teaching, Research and Creative Practice in Humanities’ from 1.30pm-3pm. The event will be held in the Baxter Suite of the Tower Building (Level 1).
