Self-isolating in your University accommodation

Updated on 13 November 2020

This guide explains what you need to do if you live in University accommodation, and have Covid-19 symptoms, have been in contact with a positive case, or have tested positive yourself.

On this page

If you or your flatmates have symptoms of Covid-19, tested positive, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, then you will all be asked to self-isolate in your flat. Don't wait for a test result before self-isolating!

If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 you should book a test as soon as possible.

Symptoms of Covid-19

The symptoms are:
• a high temperature or fever
• a new continuous cough
• a loss of, or change, in sense of smell or taste

Let us know you are self-isolating

Use the QR code on the back of your bedroom door and complete the University’s form to let us know that you are self-isolating. Don’t forget to let us know the result of your test when you get it.

Getting a test

You need to book a test online.

The nearest site is the walk-in test centre at the Park Place Car Park on the City Campus.

If you have a car, you can also book a test at the drive-in centre at Dudhope Castle.

We recommend you get tested at either site, as test results are provided much quicker than using a test-at-home kit.

Welfare support

Self-isolating can be a tough experience. You might want to get in touch with your Student Support Assistant (their details are on the poster in your kitchen).

The Residences Support Team are also available if you have any questions, concerns or need to talk: residences-support@dundee.ac.uk.

Food deliveries

You and your flatmates can still receive food deliveries from supermarkets etc. whilst you are self-isolating. Make sure to mention that you are self-isolating when you order. This will make sure that delivery is contact free.

Currently availability of online deliveries in Dundee remains good. However, if you or your flatmates are struggling to access food please contact the Residences Support Team.

Laundry and rubbish

Once you let us know you are self-isolating we will send you more information on how we will manage refuse collection.

We ask that you do not use the laundry whilst you are self-isolating.

Laundry Online Tayside are able to offer a collect, clean and deliver service direct to your door.
