Guide to Clearing

Clearing is the process universities use to fill any remaining course vacancies

On this page

You can use Clearing to find a course if:

  • you missed the UCAS deadline
  • you no longer wish to go to your Firm choice
  • on results day you find yourself without a university to go to
Clearing vacancies open

You can use Clearing once you have your official exam results.

  • International: Tuesday 5 July 2022
  • Scotland: Tuesday 9 August 2022
  • England, Northern Ireland, Wales: Thursday 18 August 2022
  1. Check the relevant vacancy page for you

    1. Scottish vacancies

    2. English, Northern Irish, and Welsh vacancies

    3. International vacancies

  2. Click or tap Apply now for the course you are interested in to start the Clearing application for

  3. You will need the following information to complete the application form:

    1. Exam results or relevant qualifications

    2. English language qualification for international applicants

  4. Once you have completed the application form, click or tap Submit

What happens next

If your application is successful you should receive an offer, by email, within one working hour.

Our Clearing Team works Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00.

If we have made you an offer and you do not have a UCAS account

If you are not in UCAS already, we will ask you for some additional information to set up your UCAS account.

If we have made you an offer and you already have a UCAS account

You will need to log in to UCAS and complete the following tasks:

  • Add your Clearing choice in UCAS Track
    • Only add a Clearing choice once you have permission from us
  • Click or tap Add Clearing choice, and fill in the course details by the date we give you

This counts as you definitely accepting the offer, so when we confirm, it will show as an acceptance on your Choices page in Track.

Attend a Clearing offer holder online session

We will email you details of how to join once you have been made an offer.

Arrange your student finance

Tuition fees are specific to your fee status and course. 

Check on undergraduate student finance.

Up to £6,000 in scholarships available.

You could be eligible for up to £6,000 per year of study through our range of scholarships.

Book your student accommodation

We guarantee accommodation for eligible students who comes to us through Clearing, as long as you apply before the deadline. The deadline is to be confirmed at the moment.

Once you receive an offer from us, we’ll email you with information about how to apply for our accommodation.

All of our rooms are en-suite with superfast wifi and utility bills included.
