Reuse of an old abandoned Art-Nouveau building located in the Czech Republic.
About
Orlík is a historical building from an art nouveau period. It was built around the 1880s. The building worked as a pub, and part of Orlík worked as a guesthouse.
The project proposes some ideas for the renovation of the building, as it's been closed since the 1970s'. The project is divided into three different parts - restaurant - hotel- residents.
Orlík building is located in a small town in the northern part of the Czech Republic. It is located close to a famous natural heritage called Czech Switzerland, which is why nature and mountains inspired this project. The main inspiration is taken from contour lines and maps of the site. I was using hills and mountains around the area to create patterns for the interior. The contours of these spots are projected in the interior in many different ways.
The second biggest inspiration for this project is the tradition and history of the place. The project reveals original historical elements like arches, original wooden flooring, and old brick walls. The idea was to keep the original features of the building untouched and remove all distracting elements to make them more visible to the viewers. A few modern details inspired by contours are placed in the interior to complete the look.
